Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures is an American motion picture distribution division owned by The Walt Disney Company. WDSMP handles the distribution, marketing and promotion for films produced by the Walt Disney Studios; including Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, DisneyToon Studios, Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, Disneynature and Touchstone Pictures.

The Challenge

Disney’s UK marketing team was tasked with planning and designing the point of sale for Frankenweenie, an exciting new 3D stop-motion-animated fantasy film directed by Tim Burton. We were approached to provide creative insight and facilitate the process of planning and designing the point of sale for the release of the film.

Planning and Designing Point of Sale

We worked collaboratively with Disney’s UK marketing team to plan and design point of sale to be used across 600 cinemas nationwide for the release of Frankenweenie.

The Solution

Following our work on The Avengers, we collaborated with Disney’s UK marketing team at their European HQ in London, advising on the strategic placement of point of sale throughout cinemas nationwide and providing creative insight throughout the design process including brand integration and audience engagement for the key ‘clusters’ identified for the film.

The Result

This one-week engagement resulted in the implementation of point of sale across 600 cinemas nationwide. Our focus on audience engagement, innovative design and strategic placement resulted in highly effective promotional support for the launch of the film across the UK, generating $11.4 million in its opening weekend.
